Welcome to South Warwickshire Benefice

16th August 2016 by Ros Greenhalgh 2 Comments

Rev Ros Greenhalgh at St. Swithin's Church

Welcome to the South Warwickshire Church of England Benefice, which includes the churches of St. Swithin’s – Quinton with Admington, St. Peter’s – Welford on Avon, All Saints – Weston on Avon, St. James the Great – Marston Sicca and the new community at Meon Vale.

New Electoral Roll 2019

Every 6 years we have to start again with our electoral roll rather than just updating the year on year changes as they occur. This year, 2019 is the year for the old roll to be scrapped and a brand new roll has to be drawn up which means everyone on the roll has to reapply. Being on the roll is important since this is how you become a member of The Church of England and as such, is your way of being committed to the membership of your local church. It also entitles you to vote for your PCC representatives at the Annual Meetings held during March or April every year. Details of how to ensure your name and address are included on the new roll for your parish church will be available in each of our four churches in the coming weeks. You may also contact me, Ros Greenhalgh at the Welford Rectory.

A word or two about Data Protection.

The lawful bases for processing the personal data contained in the church electoral roll come from the purposes for that processing, i.e. what we do with the personal data and why we are asking for it.   In very broad terms, the key purposes are:

1. To determine eligibility for attendance at the Annual Parochial Church Council Meeting, for various elections and for other church related matters, and;

2, To create the electoral roll and administer the elections; and

3. To publish the electoral roll.

All of the relevant purposes are set out in the Church Representation Rules and Parish PCCs must comply with these statutory requirements. Anyone who applies to be put on the electoral roll should be aware of all relevant requirements by reading the following ‘Privacy Notice’ below. There is provision, on request, to withhold your home address from being published on the Electoral Roll but your full name must be present.

Please click here for the Privacy Notice relating to the Electoral Roll. The notice applies specifically to each one of our four churches in the South Warwickshire Benefice.

    Hi we moved to the village last July and plan to marry in Ettington Church which is my church from a child. I had a meeting with rev John Horton today and he has advised me I need to make contact with the village church in order for our bans to be read. Many thanks Emily and Liam

    Hi Emily & Liam,

    Thanks for your message and if you can contact Rev. Ros Greenhalgh at revdrosgreenhalgh@gmail.com with a contact telephone number she can liaise with you over the reading of the banns.

    As we are a Benefice covering the 4 churches she will need to know which village you live in.

    Thanks
