Wesley Erpen, Chief Executive at Birmingham City Mission, was our speaker at the benefice service at St. Peter’s, Welford on 30th October. As well as an encouraging message about putting our faith into action, it was good to hear about all the work the City Mission is involved in supporting those in need whilst sharing the Gospel message.
As well as supporting homeless and elderly people, BCM has been operating a Food Bank for 35 years and works through schools and youth projects. Thank you to all who generously donated toys for the Mission to wrap and distribute to families in need this Christmas.
Information about the City Mission was available at the end of the service and Wesley joined us for a ‘Bring and Share’ lunch in the Church Rooms afterwards. The City Mission van visits Welford on a regular basis to collect donations such as furniture, clothes and
non-perishable food items.
Food for their basics bank can be left anytime in the collection basket at the back of St. Peter’s Church. If you have other items that you would like to donate please contact Jan Harris (750329).
