A Christian funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping. These can be a small, quiet ceremony or a large occasion in a packed church.
Options available
Everyone is entitled to either a burial service (funeral) or to have their ashes buried in their local parish churchyard by their local parish vicar regardless of whether they attended church or not.
If you would prefer to arrange a Cremation, then your local vicar will be happy to officiate at a Christian service in the Crematorium chapel.
There are also other options, such as a Service of Thanksgiving either before or after a cremation.
How do I arrange a funeral?
In the first instance, you will need to contact a Funeral Director who will then talk you through the options available. If you would like a funeral in one of our churches, or if you would like me to officiate at the Crematorium, then ask your Funeral Director to contact me, Revd Ros Greenhalgh, on 01789 751546.
How much will it cost?
The full cost of a funeral will vary depending on the Funeral Director.
