The annual carol service for Long Marston was held at St. James the Great church with a packed congregation. It was led by benefice rector Rev. Ros Greenhalgh and started off with Once in Royal David’s City with the first verse a solo by a local child Charlotte.
The music was accompanied with a flute and the church organ.
Between each carols a relevant reading was read.
The carols included favourites such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing, O little Town of Bethlehem, Away in a Manager (with the first verse sung beautifully by the children), Silent Night and finishing with O Come All Ye Faithful.
During the prayers Rev. Ros read the poem Christmas Bells by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
At the end of the service the congregation enjoyed the mince pies and mold wine on offer.
